Hiloyuki Kubota
1981 born in Osaka Prefecture, Japan.
In 2000, began working as VJ SARA CHOP OMRICE, creating visuals using graphic design and 3DCG. Started performing visuals at clubs in Osaka’s Amerikamura district such as UNDER LOUNGE, Joule, and Grand Cafe. At UNDER LOUNGE, handled regular parties including Warp da Disco and Reflex.
In 2003, joined a post-production company in Osaka called IMAGICA West. Originally planned to study Inferno, a compositing and VFX system, but the long overtime hours interfered with VJ activities, leading to resignation after one year.
Afterward, joined another CG production company, but again faced excessive overtime. Realized that working within a company environment did not suit his nature, and resigned after a year and a half.
In 2004, after discovering the concept of Audio Visual, which synchronizes sound and visuals, began producing dance music as well.
In 2004, provided visuals for the DVD hidden partition, released by the UK-based VJ label LIGHTRHYTHM VISUALS.
In 2005, provided visuals for the DVD THE GATHERING 2005, released by the psychedelic trance label VISION QUEST.
From 2006, began working as a freelance designer and video creator. However, while producing commercial visual work for clients, gradually felt that it differed from what had originally been sought creatively. Could not imagine continuing such work until the age of sixty, and after feeling fully complete with VJ activities and having no further goals, passion for visuals began fading while music increasingly became the center of creative expression.
Concluded VJ activities with UNDER LOUNGE’s countdown party at the end of 2006.
Using savings accumulated through freelance work, moved to London, UK in 2007 in search of record labels for music releases. However, despite producing dance music, interest in club culture had already diminished, resulting in only four club visits during that year in London. Spent most of the time immersed in music production rather than networking or promotion.
At the same time, the continuous sense of upward momentum that had been felt since beginning VJ activities at age eighteen suddenly stopped around the summer of 2007, giving way to a growing sense of stagnation that continued through the end of the year. In December, the emotional decline intensified day by day, feeling as though falling off a cliff. Upon returning to Japan at the end of 2007, was overwhelmed by an inexplicable sense of despair, and the entire world appeared gray.
The values, assumptions, and meaning of life that had previously been built up collapsed, and a long period of suffering began, marked by loss, emptiness, loneliness, and the fear that recovery might never come.
At the time, there was no known language to describe this experience, but eighteen years later came to recognize it as the phenomenon known as the “Dark Night of the Soul.” This was understood as a process in which much of the constructed ego is forcibly dismantled, allowing a more essential state of consciousness to emerge.
In 2008, launched a visual and web-related business, but passion for visual production had already faded, making it increasingly difficult to sustain motivation for production or business growth. Ordinary social life also became progressively difficult. This led to exploring the possibility of living without dependence on money, and ideas for producing all essential necessities through self-sufficiency were summarized onto two sheets of A4 paper.
Upon completing this outline, intuitively felt that a social structure with low dependence on others would be beneficial, especially for people’s mental well-being. From there, the concept expanded into how such communities could evolve into cities, nations, and eventually a world federation.
During the first year, believed this work was being pursued purely out of personal interest. However, by the second year, even after losing interest and attempting to stop, new ideas and intellectual curiosity continued emerging endlessly. Through this process, increasingly felt not that the writings were being created by personal desire, but rather that they were being written through him.
During the second year of this work, closed the business entirely and spent another full year organizing the ideas while remaining unemployed. The project was eventually completed as a new social concept called “Prout Village.”
This framework proposed an alternative to both capitalism and socialism, concluding that one of the fundamental causes behind global problems such as climate change, war, poverty, and political corruption lies in systems based on money, and explored methods for constructing a society in which money does not exist.
Because surviving without work was impossible, began working part-time while intentionally minimizing living standards. The resulting increase in free time was devoted to creative activity.
Continued music production at a pace of approximately sixty to one hundred tracks per year. Also began creating abstract paintings as visual imagery connected to the music, and naturally developed that form of expression as well, later publishing the works on Instagram.
From this period onward, increasingly recognized the feeling that the writings, music, and abstract paintings were not being consciously created by the self, but rather emerging naturally as if the hands moved on their own.
From 2013 onward, began releasing dance music and chillout music through small independent labels in countries including the United States, Spain, Austria, and Turkey.
The album Vega, released in 2014, reached No.1 in Belgium’s iTunes Easy Listening category in 2020.
Around 2020, during the thirteenth year of the Dark Night of the Soul, encountered the concept of “No-mind” and began consciously practicing it, resulting in a gradual easing of suffering.
In 2020, published Prout Village. Since then, the work has continued to be revised and expanded, and has been released freely online.
By 2025, four additional documents besides Prout Village had also been completed and published online.
The Origin of Faith explores the idea that the beliefs and religions found across continents since ancient times share common symbolic elements that can be traced back to a single origin, supported by physical evidence. Among these findings are recurring symbols such as golden ratio spirals and twin serpents.
After recognizing recurring behavioral patterns among highly ego-driven individuals, summarized these observations in a document titled From Ego to Consciousness. Understanding the human ego became regarded as an essential element in constructing a peaceful society.
Patterns of the Rise and Decline of Civilizations examines how human civilizations throughout history follow patterns of growth and collapse similar to those found in nature. It also discusses the idea that capitalist society has entered its final stage, while outlining elements necessary for a sustainable society.
The Structure and Laws of This World attempts to explain the nature of ego and the structure of reality extending beyond the universe itself through thought experiments and philosophical inquiry.
The music, writings, and abstract paintings all continue evolving and being updated to the present day.
